The scholar is depicted seated in a cloth-covered throne chair, dressed in draped blue robes and wearing a tall dark scholar's hat, a mother-of-pearl inlaid black lacquer table with various scholar's objects behind the figure, framed.

Condition
Height including frame 68 x 44 1/5 in. Overall decent condition with light toning throughout the painting consistent with age. A large repair and repaint to the upper left corner suggested the original part was likely cutout. Smaller repairs to the mid-section of the painting.
